The Launch of the “French Tech Club Label”

Plus que jamais, l’Union fait la Force, en particulier dans le domaine des matériels d’impression, d’ennoblissement et de finition pour les étiquettes adhésives et les packagings souples.

On Friday, May 29, 2020, representatives from the five French manufacturers in the sector—Benoît Demol (Codimag), Bruno Vitali (GIC), Victor Abergel (MGI), Charles Dernoncourt (Serame), and Stéphane Rateau (SMAG)—launched the French Tech Club Label, a one-of-a-kind initiative in this industry.

Through this innovative initiative, these five manufacturers aim to highlight French technological innovation in the industry, as exemplified by the breadth and relevance of their offerings to printers and converters.

In fact, Codimag, GIC, MGI, Serame, and SMAG develop in France and manufacture and market worldwide a full range of high-value-added conventional and digital technologies.

Innovating in Business Relationships

For Victor Abergel, VP of MGI, the creation of the French Tech Club Label is ultimately a natural step given the current context:

“The one-year postponement of Drupa, the lack of any major events this year in the labeling and flexible packaging industry, and the two-month shutdown due to the lockdown are clearly prompting us to rethink how we engage with our customers.”

Differentiation and Added Value

In this context, innovating in the sales approach is essential, according to Stéphane Rateau, CEO of SMAG:

“The appetite of printers and converters for innovations that deliver added value remains as strong as ever. In a competitive market, it is more important than ever to stand out, and the French Tech Club Label is designed to help showcase French technological innovations to industry stakeholders.”

Technological Innovation

This approach is all the more necessary given that “Made in France” products are highly sought after in the adhesive label and flexible packaging sectors, explains Benoît Demol, CEO of Codimag:

“Each of our five companies generates the vast majority of its revenue abroad, both in Europe and in other international markets. This situation is further proof of the excellence of French technologies on the global market. Our approach aims to promote our expertise beyond our borders under a common brand.”

Proximity and Adaptability

By joining forces under the French Tech Club Label, Codimag, GIC, MGI, Serame, and SMAG are sending a strong message to printers and converters, says Bruno Vitali, CEO of GIC:

“The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted the issue of technological dependence and reliance on distant sourcing, which poses a major challenge for European manufacturers in the label and flexible packaging industries. Through the Club, we want to show them that there are innovative, high-value-added French technology solutions available that are close to their factories and responsive to their needs.”

Service and Responsiveness

As part of their joint initiative, the members of the French Tech Club Label aim to highlight their proximity to their clients’ factories and the responsiveness of their service—an essential aspect, concludes Charles Dernoncourt, CEO of Serame:

“Supporting label manufacturers on a day-to-day basis in their strategy for industrial differentiation requires close collaboration and a high degree of responsiveness—a true service-oriented approach. By managing the design, manufacturing, and marketing of our technologies locally, we are best positioned to adapt to our customers’ day-to-day needs.”

The first initiative planned by the Label French Tech Club is the organization of an event, the Label French Tech Expo 2020, which will feature demonstrations of equipment provided by the five manufacturers, as well as workshops.

A wide-ranging program that will be unveiled in the coming weeks…
